Lisa Keys, author of the Good Grief Cook blog, is the genius behind this beautiful pie. Lisa and my husband Rodger met each other through an online platform that connects brands like Norm’s Farms with chefs, bloggers, and other like-minded individuals.  We are always looking for talented chefs and influencers to introduce our products to and we knew that when we found Lisa, we had found a real gem.

Lisa spent most of her working life as a Physician’s Assistant specializing in adolescent medicine.  Lisa’s lifelong hobbies include cooking and photography, both of which are self-taught.  Lisa began creating original recipes and entering them in contests nearly 30 years ago and has won quite a few awards! Over the years Lisa earned the title of certified Food Champ Judge and is also a credentialed Stake Competition Association Judge.

Lisa was on the Food Network as a contestant on CHOPPED in 2014.  Lisa describes it as one of the most frightening and rewarding experiences of her life.  Lisa credits her daughter, Caitlin, with helping her prepare by bringing her baskets of ingredients to practice with and by filming Lisa in the kitchen so that Lisa could make the most of her TV appearance.  Lisa credits the loving support of her daughter and husband, and the love light of her deceased son, William to the amazing experience she had on CHOPPED, which culminated in her winning!  Lisa is an official CHOPPED CHAMPION for the 2104 season.  Check out her beautiful blog post about the experience here.

Lisa started her blog Good Grief Cook after her son William died.  Cooking, creating recipes, and pushing herself well beyond her comfort zone were all ways Lisa coped with her overwhelming grief.  As Lisa describes it, “I started this blog because I have promised myself to follow in William’s light. This is just another example of me stepping out of my comfort zone. If it helps just one grieving parent celebrate their child’s life then my mission has been accomplished.”

Lisa’s talents are on full display with the beautiful Elderberry Honeycomb Cream Pie she made with our Blueberry Elderberry Preserves and our Elderflower Syrup.  The pie is so GORGEOUS and delicious too.  We hope you enjoy Lisa’s recipe and we know you’ll be so inspired by her blog.

Thank you, Lisa!
