Harvested some elderberries with some green ones in them some of these green and not quite ripe berries got mixed in by another family member by the time I got home the berries had soaked in juice and I had a hard time telling the slightly green ones from the others. Pulled the green green ones out but what about the ones I missed? Should I toss the whole lot? Froze them these were set to make wine with.

Thank you for this information. We were given some elderberry twigs at a TOFGA conference in Austin Texas several years ago. One grew and 4-5 years later is producing lots of black elderberries.
I understand that the black elderberry is the most medicinal of the clan.
My mother’s uncle had 2 elderberry trees in his back yard in San Antonio Texas and made elderberry wine from them every year. He and his wife never had a cold, flu or pneumonia and lived well into their mid to late 90’s.
Definitely a fabulous tree to have around!
