Elderflower Whipped Cream

Elderflower Whipped Cream takes any dessert from good to fantastic with almost no effort, contains only two ingredients and is so easy to make.  If you are looking for an easy dessert for a potluck contribution or for your own dinner party, look no further!  We served fresh berries, strawberry compote and Elderflower Whipped Cream over a store bought sour cream bundt cake at a gathering at our home for the NCAA basketball tournament.  It received rave reviews and while we had some left over cake and strawberry compote, the Elderflower Whipped Cream and fresh berries were demolished!

Ingredients
Directions
  1. Pour the pint of whipping cream into a large deep bowl, and using an electric mixer, whip the cream at high speed for several minutes until soft peaks form.
  2. Add the Elderflower Syrup one tablespoon at a time, mixing at high speed in between each addition of Elderflower Syrup until well incorporated.  If you want a sweeter, thicker cream continue adding Elderflower Syrup one tablespoon at a time until you reach the desire thickness and taste.
  3. Transfer whipped cream from mixing bowl into a glass storage container, cover and refrigerate until serving.

Elderflower Whipped Cream Serving Suggestions
Elderflower Whipped Cream is thicker than typical whipped cream.  It has a consistency somewhere between whipped cream and clotted cream and the luscious floral aroma and taste pairs well with any fruit based dessert. Try serving it with apple or berry pie, vanilla or lemon pound cake, over fresh berries, or with pudding or custard.  And, if most frostings are too sweet and rich for you, try using Elderflower Whipped Cream to frost carrot, spice, vanilla, or apple cake too!
