Meet Braden Bowman! Norm's Farms newest Elderberry Ambassador. He is one of the members of our Midwest sales team, so you can catch him in our Purdy, MO office or around the area at demos! Braden has a very interesting background and has experienced a great deal for his young age. So, let's get to know our newest employee! Braden comes from humble beginnings in southwest Arkansas. He grew up in a small town called Nashville, Arkansas. It's not the well-known musical city in Tennessee, but he says it was a quality place to be born. Braden was one of the oldest sons of Johnny and Carol Ann Bowman. Before college, he worked on a cattle farm owned by his Uncle Floyd Clark. He taught him what it meant to do good work and to be proud of such work. He taught Braden how to turn a profit and to think critically about his actions and words. He learned as much from him as he could before college. He was the first among many mentors Braden has had since.

When the time came, he left his home after graduation and began his professional study at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. There, he studied in the realm of communications earning his bachelor's degree in Public Relations. While he was there he served for two years on a board of elected student representatives, the Student Association. They worked as liaisons between the students and the school administration. I guess you could call him an extracurricular guy! Along with the academics at Harding he was also involved in our intramural sports programs and a member of a traveling vocal group, The Good News Singers. Harding is a private Christian college and The Good News Singers are one of a few ambassador groups that travel and perform for audiences across the country and carries with it a scholarship for the students involved. The 10 member acapella group has been around since the late 80s and is always comprised of 5 male and 5 female students. Under the direction of Chuck Hicks, the group travels around and sings about Jesus. Braden says it was always a pretty fulfilling gig. He was in the group for three years and had been to 38 of our great United States in that time with them. They even went so far as to travel to Cuba in 2017 and sing with The Matanzan Choir for the leaders of the churches of Cuba. He said it was an incredible experience and the ten of them returned only to graduate the next year. Traditionally, after graduation you no longer have any involvement with the Good News Singers. However, as the trip was such a significant event with the friends and the government in Cuba, they all have been invited back to travel with the Good News Singers of 2019 and the Matanzan Choir once more.

It isn't hard to see how important song is to Braden's life. His parents met through music and it's because of music that he has been able to see and do so much in his own life. So how does this get back to Norm's Farms? In September of 2018 he moved to Bentonville and got a job. The goal was to save money and move to Nashville, TN the following year and pursue music full-time. But he needed a "real job" before getting his "dream job." Bentonville was a good place to start. A dozen of his friends moved to North West Arkansas, so he did the same. He began working, but his work was unfulfilling, so he resigned before Thanksgiving. Braden says it was hard to work in a place he doesn't believe in. But it was necessary to build up some savings. The week leading up to Thanksgiving, he drove an hour up the road to Purdy, MO to visit his folks who had recently moved to town. His Dad was opening up an eye clinic and had moved his mom and sister to be closer to their grandparents and relatives. While Braden was there, Lewis Gray and Devon Bennett saw something in Braden that Norm's Farms needed. His bubbly personality and genuine attitude made him a perfect salesman for the company. So, Braden gladly accepted this position here.

When asking Braden why he jumped at this opportunity with Norm's, he says it's because there is so much he wants to learn still. About business, about connecting the dots. About marketing and the art of storytelling. By education, he is a communicator and an advertiser, a public relations professional. But by disposition, that being his mentality and character, he is a sales man. So that is what Braden is doing for Norm's Farms among other things. Sales in the Midwest and Demo Coordination. "I truly believe in this company and that this company does good work and makes solid products. New customers are recognizing that every day and I want to be a driving force behind the sales of this company and the education of our customers, new and current on the benefits of elderberry. What we do benefits everybody involved and that is an awesome concept made tangible. I am the youngest guy in the office, but I am still respected for the skills that I bring to the table. The company culture is great, and I hope to continue growing with Norm's Farms." Welcome aboard, Braden, we are so glad to have you here at Norm's Farms!
