This Gluten Free Apple and Elderberry Ginger Pecan Jam Crumble will fill your home with the welcoming aroma of fall. This recipe uses Norm’s Farms Elderberry Ginger Pecan Jam, fresh local apples, and a few simple ingredients to create a crowd pleasing treat.

Ingredients:

1 Jar of Norm’s Farms Elderberry Ginger Pecan Jam*
5-6 large, local apples
1 ½ cups gluten free flour*
1 ¼ cups organic butter*
1 cup sugar & 4 tablespoons sugar*
Pinch of salt
Lemon juice
You will need: a pie dish and an apple peeler

Directions:

Preheat oven to 250 degrees

Wash and dry the apples. Next, peel the apples, then dice them. If you own an apple corer, remove the core before dicing to save yourself some time.

Combine apples, 1 cup sugar, and a splash of lemon juice, add to sauce pan, and bring to a rolling boil. Cook until the apples are tender. (NOTE: this will not take long! The lemon juice helps keep the apples from browning.)

Once tender, drain the apples and set them to the side.

In a large mixing bowl, add (in this order): 4 tablespoons of sugar, pinch of salt, cinnamon (to your liking), and 2 cups of flour. Pour in the melted butter slowly, mixing with a fork to accomplish the crumble texture.

Layer the apples on the bottom of the pie dish. On top, spread the Norm’s Farms Elderberry Ginger Pecan Jam. Next, using your hands, crumble the dough on top. Finish with sprinkle of sugar and cinnamon on top of the crumble dough.

Bake at 250 degrees for 30 minutes or until crumble dough is brown. You may need to lightly broil the crumble for a minute to achieve that classic crumble texture.

*Feel free to use your favorite Norm’s Farms Jam, Jelly, or Preserve!
*Depending on the size of your apples, and how thick you want the crumble, you may need to add a bit of flour or butter to get a good consistency with the crumble dough.
*Less sugar may be used to taste as well.
