Elderflower Beer, Ready to Try Some?
It’s summertime and the living’s easy. At least that’s what you should expect anytime you visit Fullsteam Brewery in Durham, NC, where they always have delicious beer, a gathering of food trucks, and lots of people enjoying themselves around outdoor picnic tables. (You can see their schedule of beers, events, and food trucks here.)
Distinctly Southern – Elderflower Beer
Fullsteam’s mission is to pioneer the art of Distinctly Southern Beer, and the group frequently brews traditional and experimental beers using local farmed goods, heirloom grains, and seasonal botanicals. When the idea for an elderflower beer came up, it was a no-brainer for both Fullsteam and Norm’s Farms to say yes and move ahead with this fun experiment. Fullsteam may use the elderflowers as part of the brewing process; or they may create an elderflower syrup to be added to the beer later.
Elderflower Berliner Weisse
Fullsteam Brewery will be pioneering a Elderflower Berliner Weisse. Berliner Weisse is a sour, wheat-based, effervescent, low-alcohol beer traditionally brewed and enjoyed in Berlin. Napoleon’s soldiers referred to it as the “Champagne of the North.”
Fullsteam intends to call their brew Fearrington Summer and will be selling it through the Fearrington House Restaurant in Pittsboro, North Carolina.
Stay tuned to find out when the beer will be ready for drinking–or consider subscribing to our monthly newsletter below in order to receive these updates in your inbox. Happy summer!
Norm’s Farms would love to hear about your ElderFlower Beer experience.
